Feeding the Hungry

The church provides several different meals during the month for those who are hungry. If you would like to get involved with one of these programs, please fill out the form below.

  • Just Pancakes: Every Sunday and every Tuesday we prepare pancakes, juice, and coffee for our guests, serving from 7:30 to 8:30 in Fellowship Hall. Volunteers not only prepare and serve the food, but also help clean up afterward. Volunteers usually start work at 7:00 and finish by 9:00.
  • Well in the Desert Luncheon: Every Tuesday the church hosts lunch for the Well in the Desert in the Fellowship Hall. We need a few volunteers to help welcome and mingle with the lunch-time guests. Lunch is served from 11 am to 1 pm every Tuesday.
  • Desert Diner Luncheon: Every second and fourth Thursday we prepare a hot lunch for our guests, serving from 11:30 to 1:00 in Fellowship Hall. Past menus have included lasagna, barbeques, sloppy joes, soups, and so forth. Volunteers usually help with food purchases, then start work at 11:00, finishing by about 1:30, if not earlier.
  • Joshua Tree Breakfast: About once a quarter we prepare and serve breakfast to the hungry at Community United Methodist Church in Joshua Tree. Volunteers meet at our church at 6:30 with purchased food items, then carpool up to Joshua Tree where we prepare and serve eggs, sausages, tater tots, and the like. After cleanup is completed around 10:00, we then drive back to Palm Springs.

As you can imagine, volunteering for our feeding programs not only helps the hungry, but provides an opportunity to socialize with folks from all walks of life.
