Small Group Opportunities

Looking to connect with people outside of Sunday morning worship? Join us during the week for a small group and get to know people a little better. Fill out the form below to let us know if you are planning to attend on of our small groups.

Small Group Studies- We offer a wide variety of small group studies throughout the year, typically lasting four to six weeks, as a way to learn more about various topics associated with Christianity, but also as a means of connecting with others outside of Sunday morning worship.

Spiritual Core Strengthening Exercises- We all know (or should know!) that if we want to move well, stand well and feel well we need a strong core. And exercise of our core is key.

This Lent, as we embark on a 6-week journey with Jesus to the cross and beyond, we are going to be encouraged to strengthen our spiritual core with our 7 essential Christ discipleship practices: (1) daily prayer, (2) weekly worship, (3) taking a class, (4) serving the congregation, (5) serving the world, (6) moving toward tithing, and (7) seeking and finding joy.

We will be preaching on one of these discipleship practices each Sunday, and during the week following, you will have an opportunity to try it out in community with friends of the congregation. Here are some of the exercises you can add to your calendar:

Week 1- Daily Prayer

Saturday, March 9 at 9 am- Jeremy Wells and Noelle Rollins will be leading a contemplative walk on the labyrinth in the memory garden of the church

Week 2- Weekly Worship

Friday, March 15 at 7 pm- Jeremy and our music will be leading a very special contemplative worship experience in the Taize tradition in the church sanctuary

Week 3- Taking a Class

The week of March 17- Jeremy will set up a short-term Bible study online that all can take, and can learn how to take online Bible studies in the future.

The Spirituality of Aging- Pastor Jane would like to offer at least one opportunity every year for all to explore how our spiritual life can enhance and transform our experience of “growing old.” Indeed, it can be the richest time in our walk with God!

The group begins Friday, February 1. It’s a study of the wonderful book, “A Season of Mystery: 10 Spiritual Practices for a Happier Second Half of Life” by Paula Huston (an award-winning Christian writer, teacher, and friend who lives in Central California). The study will last for 10 weeks – if you can’t make them all, come to the ones you can! We’ll meet in the Christian Education Building on Friday mornings from 10 – 11:30 am. Again, bring your friends! And bring Pastor Jane your questions. Click here to sign up!

"Open Doors" Adult Sunday School- This drop-in style study meets every Sunday morning from 10:15 to 11 am in the Christian Education building at church. There is no need to RSVP and no fear if you miss one (or several) weeks of the group. Each lesson will be independent and offer unique insight into the Bible, the songs we sing, current events, and a variety of other topics. Gatherings will be led by the Director of Christian Education, Jeremy Wells , and the Christian Education Team.

Sunday Night Live- This book study group recently finished working their way through The Great Spiritual Migration by Brian D. McLaren. Stay tuned for more details!

United Methodist Women- The United Methodist Women (UMW) meet on the first Wednesday of the month to discuss mission opportunities and to connect with each other on a more personal and spiritual basis. The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 6th at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. This month's meeting will present the annual "A Call to Prayer & Self-Denial” observance, focusing on the theme “Building a Thriving Generation of Children & Youth Worldwide." This annual observance gives members & friends a chance to study & reflect on a particular theme & to designate funds for ministries related to the year’s theme.

United Methodist Men- This group meets every Wednesday morning for breakfast at 7:15 am at Rick's Cafe , all are welcome (yes, even women!) In addition to breakfast, we will have time for devotion and for fellowship.

Prayer Shawl Ministry- Over the years, the Prayer Shawl Ministry has created nearly 1,000 shawls that have been sent all over the world to friends and loved ones in need of prayer and comfort. This meaningful ministry will start meeting again on Wednesday, October 10th. All knitters, crochet-ers, and all who want to learn are welcome to join! Not the crafty type? The group always needs yarn (Lion brand, the make is Homespun. and 3-4 skeins make one shawl).
